OnePlus and Oppo merge together
Smartphone brands Oppo and OnePlus have been operating separately for so long. However, the other brand is known to many as the sub-brand of Oppo. Both companies are owned by BBK Electronics. This time both the brands are going to be merged officially.
OnePlus co-founders Pete Lau and Carl Pay have previously worked together at OnePlus. OnePlus CEO Lai took over as Oppo's chief product officer in May 2020. Since then they have managed different teams together.
Teams are managed jointly to facilitate management and increase capacity through joint resources. And both companies have received a very promising response. In light of this, it has been decided to merge OnePlus with Apo, Lau said in a blog post.
Liu said OnePlus will have additional resources to create better products if the merger takes place. Lau also said that it will be possible to provide effective software updates for OnePlus users quickly.
Lau said that the operation of OnePlus will be conducted independently even though it is under Oppo. “We will continue to bring our own products and events will be organized,” he said. In addition, work will be done to maintain direct contact with customers.
